4. Jagmandir

This palace known as Jagmandir or Jag Island Palace is located on the southern side of the lake and occupies the island with the same name known as Jag Island

Jag Mandir, Jheel Garden Palace is present on one of the four islands of Lake Pichola. Three Sisodia Rajput kings of the Mewar dynasty built the palace. It is present on the banks of Lake Pichola on the side of an island. It is also known as “Lake Garden Palace”.

Firstly, the construction of the palace started in 1551 by Maharana Amar Singh. Later, Maharana Karan Singh got some work done between 1620 and 1628. Maharana Jagat Singh I (1628-1652) completed the construction of the palace naming it as Jag Mandir after the last king Maharana Jagat Singh.

Outside the Jagmandir, there is a row of stone elephants on the banks of the pond. However, a dome-roofed palace is at the center of the Jagmandir, which we call the Gol Mahal. Also, Shahzada Khurram (Shah Jahan) rebelled against his father Jahangir and lived here for some time in the Gol Mahal.
