People all over the world celebrate World Cancer Day every year on this day i.e. 4th February. As you know It is a deadly disease.
Even the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC) has declared this day as a global uniting initiative. Let us now tell you some special things about it, which are very important for all of you to know.
What is this cancer?
It is such a deadly disease, due to which a large number of abnormal cells start forming inside the body. If it is not treated at the right time, these cells keep on growing continuously and keep dividing in the body in an imbalanced manner. It also destroys the tissues of the body.
Normally the cells of our body grow and divide in a controlled manner. When normal cells are damaged or become old, they die and are replaced by healthy cells. Cancer cells keep growing and multiply when they should stop. In other words, cancer cells do not follow the same rules as healthy cells.
Cause of Cancer
There are reasons like smoking, tobacco, lack of physical activity, poor diet, rays from X-rays, UV rays from the sun, infections.
What are the symptoms?
- Prolonged pain in any part of the body.
- Prolonged cough
- Problems related to urination
- Women should keep getting tested after menopause.
- Weight loss without any reason is also a symptom.
Why is the Day celebrated?
The celebration of this day was started in the year 1933. The purpose behind this is that people should be told about this disease and also information should be given about the ways to avoid it. On this day, UICC organized it with the help of some other It societies, treatment centers, and research institutes.
Theme of World Cancer Day
This year World Cancer Day will be celebrated with the theme “Close the Care Gap“. It is basically a multi-year campaign. The purpose of which is only that more and more people should be made aware of It.
